Susan Berg is a Summa cum Laude graduate of Samford University with a degree in Music Education and a focus in Piano Performance.  Upon graduation she taught general music for two years at Vestavia West Elementary School, being the first music teacher at the school when it opened in the fall of 1977.   Following that, she taught private and group piano lessons for 4 years at the Trusswood Piano School, located in Roebuck.  Since 1983 she has taught privately in her home studio.  She is a certified piano teacher through the Music Teachers National Association and  is also a member of the Alabama Music Teachers Assocation and the Birmingham Music Teachers Association.   Susan has held offices in both organizations, including Treasurer of the Alabama Music Teachers Association, and chair of the Birmingham District Festival for 5 years and has served as Treasurer for BMTA for the past 8 years.  Her students have frequently been winners or have received Honorable Mention in the State piano auditions which are held in the spring each year.  She has adjudicated in these auditions for several districts around the state.  

In addition to her piano teaching career, Susan has served several area churches as Church Pianist and as Children's Choir Coordinator or Director.  She has served as the accompanist for the Birmingham Boys Choir since 1978, and has been on the teaching staff of the Choir since 1989.  Currently, Susan is the director of the Junior Choristers of the Choir, a position which she has held since 1997.  Her husband Ken Berg has served as the Director of the Birmingham Boys Choir since 1978.
